9 Shot Analysis - Single Ladies
Mise En Scene
At the beginning of the Single Ladies music video the director has given the dances a silhouette look so all you can see is their body shape, the lighting then fades from low key lighting to high key lighting so we being to see more of the characters such as costume, hair and facial expressions, however black/white and grey scale has been used throughout the whole music video. All three characters in the video are wearing more or less the same outfit as in black leotards and black open toed shoes, but Beyonce the main character has a slightly more revealing leotard as it only has one shoulder. The whole music video is in a plain white studio, as the director obviously wanted the main focus to be on the dancers, due to the energy within the performance.
Camerawork
The director has obviously placed Beyonce (The singer) in the centre so the audiences full attention is on her. The majority of the music video uses Long and Wide shots as the video is based on very choreographed routine, therefore the director has used these shots enabling the audience the full effect of all 3 dances and the routine, however every known and again the with zoom, or cut to a close of Beyonces face or her hand as her hand has a big significance to the music video. Which mean the camera work has directly expressed the attentions of Beyonce by using close up to focus on her facial to the audience.
Editing
Throughout the whole video long shot duration is used as there is only on scene, it is also desaturated which creates the black and white effect, no colour is used in this music video. The pace of the music video looks fast due to action (dancing) but in fact it is quite slow enabling the audience to see the actions clearly, no transitions are used other than cuts to keep the audience focused on the dancers. An eye line match is used when the artist looks at her ring, then we see her ring in focus.

Choice of Song and Why?
Crazy In Love - Beyonce ft. Jay Z
We chose Crazy In Love by Jay Z and Beyonce because it is a well known song and popular. We found that it was at a slow enough pace to find it quite easy to make an animation out of but is also fast enough to keep the audiences engaged. We also chose this song because it would be entertaining to viewers due to the animated barbie dolls we've picked Beyonce and Jay Z to be the main characters in our animatic, which are two very well known pop stars. We know it would be an enjoyable video due to the way in which the actions of the barbie dolls will match the lyrics. We collectively have chosen this song because there is a clear storyline, and we feel we could create an animatic that would fit this song precisely.
